Thinkgate's Education Suite is built on the cornerstone product Testgate. Testgate is a criterion-referenced diagnostic testing tool that can be used online or via paper-based testing. Criterion-referenced tests describe the specific types of skills, tasks or knowledge that a student can demonstrate, such as mathematical skills. The results of a Testgate assessment might demonstrate that a particular student can add, subtract, and multiply but has difficult with both long and short division. These results could then be employed to design an individualized program of instruction that focuses on division. The criterion-referenced testing movement emphasizes diagnostic use of tests, or using them to identify problems that can be remedied. Tests are scored and reports are generated immediately upon completion.
